About

Paige Nelson is a native of Los Angeles, California where she started dancing at the age of three. She trained at a local studio where she studied a wide variety of dance. She later trained at California Dance Theater, where she received an American Ballet Theater Training Curriculum and was a member of the Pacific Festival Ballet, the resident ballet company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. In her senior year of high school, Paige went on to privately training in contemporary ballet with Josie Walsh, and taking ballet at Mimoda Dance Studio with Stefan Wenta.

After graduating from high school, Paige moved across the country to New York to continue her training in the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase. During her time here, she has been fortunate enough to perform with Purchase Dance Company in works by Tom Weinberger, Merce Cunningham, Nejla Yatkin and Rena Butler. Additionally, Paige performed a new work for her senior project, choreographed by Bret Easterling, a former Batsheva dancer.

In addition to Paige’s yearly training, she has also attended numerous summer programs that include Jacob’s Pillow Gaga Program, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, BalletX, Axis Connect, Dance Italia, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, and many more. Paige has also worked very closely with JUNTOS Collective, a non-profit organization that uses dance to create intercultural exchange in underprivileged communities. She has travelled with JUNTOS to Guatemala and Mexico, each for two weeks, teaching and performing with dancers, as well as non dancers.

Paige is anticipated to graduate from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase in May of 2019, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, and a concentration in composition.
